Japanese rectangular lacquered wood memento box, covered with a red scrim, a cloth woven with rectangular weave that resembles a window screen. Another layer of black lacquered wood is overlaid along the bottom third of the box and over its lid. This decorative layer of lacquered wood is cut with a wide-scalloped edge and has small heart-shaped cutouts on each corner to reveal more of the red scrim. An oak leaf design is etched into the copper alloy knobs on the front and back. The lid is slightly convex. The lid lifts off to reveal a removable tray.
