This panel of Venetian drawnwork lace dates from the 19th century and is approximately 16.5 x 6.5 inches. The panel is decorated with images of birds and animals seen in profile, facing to our right. There are also landscape motifs. The top and bottom edges are straight.

This playful Italian drawnwork lace panel rests in one of the Veronese Room lace cases. Drawnwork is created through removing the warp and weft threads from an even-weave piece of fabric. By removing the threads, lacemakers are able to create intricate patterns and shapes.
