Lace Panel, 19th century

Drawnwork lace, 41.9 x 16.5 cm (16 1/2 x 6 1/2 in.)

Commentary

This playful Italian drawnwork lace panel rests in one of the Veronese Room lace cases. Drawnwork is created through removing the warp and weft threads from an even-weave piece of fabric. By removing the threads, lacemakers are able to create intricate patterns and shapes.
