One of the greatest jazz composers of his generation, Julius Hemphill (1938–1995) brought the sounds of the blues to the classical concert stage. Acclaimed jazz and classical players join forces in a genre-bending celebration.

International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE)
Christian Knapp , conductor

Finnish composer Magnus Lindberg (b. 1958) writes music that bristles with energy and abounds with eclectic influences from classical Minimalism to classic rock. Debuting in Boston, ICE plays with “crackling virtuosity and palpable commitment” ( Chicago Tribune).
