Musicians from the Ravinia Festival’s Steans Institute

Schumann: Piano Quintet in E-flat Major, Op. 44
Brahms: Piano Quartet No. 2 in A Major, Op. 26

The Steans Institute for Young Artists is a unique summer program for young professional musicians that focuses upon interpretation and performance. At the Steans Institute, a professional training program within Chicago’s renowned Ravinia Festival, young artists find an intimate, collegial atmosphere as they work with each other and meet with a distinguished international faculty for private coaching, chamber music and master classes. Together they search for ways to approach and perform works selected from a broad repertoire.

A touring group made up of Steans Institute students and faculty, Musicians from the Ravinia Festival’s Steans Institute perform concerts including music studied at the institute for audiences through the country. Through these performances, young musicians gain professional performing experience, and audiences get to hear rising young musicians from around the world.

Musicians from the Ravinia Festival’s Steans Institute perform at the Gardner Museum regularly. This season, hear them on Sunday, March 30, 2008. Tickets go on sale in December 2007.
