All groups of 10 people or more must
register at least 3 weeks in advance by calling 617-278-5147,
Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Groups are scheduled to arrive at
the Museum between 11:15 a.m. and 3:45 p.m., Tuesday through
Saturday.
Please bring 1 chaperone for every
10 students in a school group. Chaperones should familiarize
themselves with Museum rules and help Museum staff with
their enforcement.
Guided visits are led by experienced
Museum Teachers who highlight major works in the Gardner's
collection using an interactive approach to learning. Students
are divided into small groups of 15 or fewer to encourage
careful observation and discussion.
Groups of 30 or fewer may choose
not to be led by a Museum Teacher and may visit the galleries
on their own in groups of 10 or fewer. The Education Department
offers a guide entitled Eyes on Art to help teachers plan
effective self-guided visits.
Please note: Teachers and chaperones
are admitted free of charge up to 2 per 10 students. Each
extra chaperone will be admitted at the student rate of
$3.
