Advance Contemporary Exhibition Release

"Luisa Rabbia: Travels with Isabella
Travel Scrapbooks 1883/2008

June 27-September, 2008

Advance Press Preview Event: Wed, June 25th, 5:30-6:30 pm Please RSVP to karmstrong@isgm.org or 617/278-5107

A contemporary Artist-in-Residence exhibition inspired by artist Luisa Rabbia's residency at the Gardner Museum - and photographs collected by Isabella Gardner while traveling in China in 1883. In Travels with Isabella, Rabbia uses these archival photographs to create a video of an imaginary landscape animated with her own drawings and other images and music also inspired by her time at the museum. The result is a fantastical narrative that is both contemporary and historical.

This advance release was revised May 6, 2008
A complete press kit will be available in late May 2008.
