Education

Connect with people and ideas at the Gardner through programs that explore historic and contemporary art and culture. Programs are offered on Thursday evenings throughout the year. Please visit our calendar for more information about upcoming programs.

Education Studio

The new building brings the museum’s renowned education and community programs to the foreground with a glass-enclosed Studio on the first floor, including a wall dedicated to student art exhibitions. Hands-on projects for visitors of all ages will spark creative looking and thinking about art, education, landscape, and music. The Studio space will be open to the public on weekends and during school vacation weeks, and reserved for the museum’s school and community partners during the week.

Art Activities

Stop by the Education Studio this summer for a veritable feast of creative activities. Whether you’re 5 or 105, you are welcome to join us for art-making. Projects include recycled and found object mono-printing, mesmerizing mosaics, foil relief carving, and watercolor sketching from live flower and plant specimens. Activities are drop-in on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 4:30pm. No pre-registration is required, but space is limited.

All visitors--regardless of age, ability, or familiarity with the creative process--are encouraged to participate in our Education Studio workshops. (That means you too, grownups!) Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
