Cliff Evans (b. 1977 Australia) is a multi-media artist whose work focuses primarily on political, popular and internet culture using appropriation and photomontage animation. At the age of three, he moved to East Texas and was naturalized twelve years later. His multi-channel installations and video objects have been shown in New York at Location One, the Chelsea Art Museum, Luxe Gallery, and Scope; the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Brickbottom Gallery, Somerville, the Judi Rotenberg Gallery, Boston; Curator's Office and artDC, Washington, DC; Maryland Art Place and The Library in conjunction with Curator's Office in Baltimore, MD; the Creative Research Lab, Austin; Scope Miami, Miami; and the Chinese International Gallery Exposition, Beijing, China.

Awards and honors include: Artforum's Top 10 Artist Films for 2006 as picked by MOMA curator Barbara London; a traveling scholarship from The Medici Society Limited, London, UK; and a nomination for the Princess Grace Award from the Princess Grace Foundation-USA, New York, NY. Evans has had residencies at Boston Symphony Orchestra Tanglewood, Lenox, MA and Location One International Residency Program, New York, NY. Evans has also shot film with the Hungarian filmmaker, Bela Tarr.

Cliff Evans graduated in 2002 from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA, and a year later he returned for the competitive Fifth Year Program. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.

Cliff Evans spent the month of October 2006 living and working in the Artist-in-Residence apartment on the top floor of the Carriage House. A year later he returned to install Empyrean, a haunting five-channel video depicting the conflation of missionary practice, militaristic domination, and wellness tourism in present-day society. Evans returned monthly during his show to discuss his work with curators including Pieranna Cavalchini, Barbara London, and George Fifield, as well as artist and his former teacher Mary-Ellen Strom. In 2009, he returned again to give a gallery talk about Floating Memories, a work and exhibition by 2008 AIR Su-Mei Tse.
