√ (Square Root)
Saturday, April 19, 2:30 PM
Pre-Hispanic textiles employ an elaborate system of pleats, folds and seams to make an array of garments with only squares and rectangles. Learn the technique Carla Fernández calls "the square root" by creating doll-sized designs in paper. At the end of the workshop, you'll dress your models for a runway show.
This introductory workshop runs approximately 2 hours in the Hostetter Gallery with the exhibition Carla Fernández: The Barefoot Designer. Recommended for ages 8 and up. Participants under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Each workshop is limited to 6 participants.
