PROGRAM
Capital Culture: J. Carter Brown, the National Gallery of Art, and the Reinvention of the Museum Experience
American art museums flowered in the late 20th century, and leading much of this growth was J. Carter Brown, director of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC for twenty-three years, from 1969 to 1992. Distinguished historian Neil Harris, author of Capital Culture, will discuss this dynamic era.

Book talks are held in Calderwood Hall. Free tickets to this program will be available at the Admissions desk beginning at 11 am the day of the event. A book signing will follow.
