Portals: A Multimedia Exploration of Longing in the Digital Age
Tim Fain traveled the world as a solo violinist in Philip Glass's "Book of Longing," a song cycle based on Leonard Cohen's poetry. Now Glass has created a new "Partita' inspired by the solo from “Book of Longing,” and this is the centerpiece of Portals, a musical exploration of the human longing for connection in the digital age. In an onstage dialogue between live and multimedia works, Fain will guide us through failures and triumphs of new portals of relationship. The production interweaves films and the words of Leonard Cohen with the music of Glass and other Pulitzer Prize-winning composers.
