PROGRAM
We’ve been breathlessly awaiting this Gardner After Hours for years. In honor of the recent opening of Anders Zorn: A European Artist Seduces America, prepare to be seduced with an evening inspired by the talented, ambitious, and sartorially adventurous Swedish artist Anders Zorn.

Anders Zorn: A European Artist Seduces America | 5 pm-9 pm
Nudes in the landscape, urban life in Paris, glamorous socialites--check out the exhibition that inspired the evening.

Photo Ops! | 5 pm-9 pm
Post photos to Twitter and Instagram with #ISGM, #3rdthurs. We’ll post a few fun photos and the best Zorn-inspired outfits on the museum’s Facebook page.

Victorian Parlor Games: Halma | 5 pm-9 pm
In 1899, Zorn painted a portrait of George Howard Monks, the husband of Isabella’s niece, Olga. In the portrait, you can see Halma, a board game he invented (similar to Chinese Checkers). Challenge a friend to a game on one of our vintage boards!

Cash Bar featuring Night Effect | 5:30 pm-9 pm
Try this bubbly drink (inspired by a painting in the show) or stick with the classics: wine, beer, and sparkling water.

Sketching in the Galleries | 6 pm-8:30 pm
Catch the magic of the Gardner on paper. Boards, paper, and pencils provided.

Studio Artivity: Etching | 6 pm-8:30 pm
Follow in Zorn’s artistic footsteps and try your hand at a simple etching project in the studio. Don’t worry, no experience is needed!

Gallery Game: Skinny Dipping with Zorn | 6 pm-8:30 pm
We couldn’t resist. Can you?

Gallery Conversation: Gardner 101 | 6 pm / 7 pm
Great for first timers – a short chat about Isabella Stewart Gardner, the exquisite palace, and her eclectic collection.

Gallery Conversation with Anders Zorn | 6 pm / 7 pm / 8 pm
Actor John Kuntz will regale you with a short dramatic reading of anecdotes and insights from Zorn’s memoirs, translated and adapted by Ulrika Brand.

Zorn and Gardner: Painter and Patron | 7:30 pm / 8:30 pm
Join Anne-Marie Eze, Andrew W. Mellon Curatorial Fellow, for a conversation about Isabella Stewart Gardner’s patronage of Anders Zorn.

Cash wine bar around the courtyard. Café G open for snacks, dinner, and drinks.
