PROGRAM
For December’s Gardner After Hours, as a nod to Isabella Gardner's love of rare books, we’re partnering with our friends at Grub Street, an independent center for creative writing, for an evening of words, poetry, and mingling with artists and writers.

Cash Bar featuring "The Page Turner" | 5:30 pm-9 pm
Quench your thirst with this festive champagne cocktail or stick with the classics: wine, beer, or sparkling water.

Mad Libs, Gardner-style | 5:30 pm-9 pm
Remember this game? We're taking the basic idea, incorporating some Gardner correspondence, and running with it.

Studio Artivity: Japanese Stab Bookbinding | 6 pm-8:30 pm
We promise--it's not as violent as it sounds. Create your own handmade book in the Education Studio.

Living Room Host: Arthur Fournier | 6:30 pm-7:30 pm
Kick back in the Living Room with rare bookseller Arthur Fournier of F.A. Bernett Books.

Flash Poems | 6:30 pm-8:30 pm
Not as dirty as it sounds. By "flash" we mean "quick." With a Grub Street poet and a typewriter, create a short poem inspired by the galleries.

Gallery Conversation: Under the Covers! | 7 pm / 8 pm
Join Anne-Marie Eze, Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow, for a look at the nineteenth-century Japanese fairy tales that inspired Raqs Media Collective's video for The Great Bare Mat & Constellation.

Boston Typewriter Orchestra | 7:30 pm / 8:30 pm
A collective endeavor which engages in rhythmic typewriter manipulation combined with elements of performance, comedy and satire. Trust us, you'll get it when you see it!
