After Hours PLUS
January 17, 2008, 7:00pm - Composer Portraits: Music of Magnus Lindberg
Finnish composer Magnus Lindberg (b. 1958) writes music that bristles with energy and abounds with eclectic influences, from classical Minimalism to classic rock. In this concert, the International Contemporary Ensemble makes their Boston debut, playing with their signature “crackling virtuosity and palpable commitment” (Chicago Tribune) and giving Bostonians a first chance to hear one of the hottest rising new music groups in the country.
More about this performance
Magnus Lindberg is one of the most exciting European composers writing right now. His music is particularly admired for its energy, color and thrilling density of complex musical material, and his scores are commissioned and played by the world’s leading conductors and musicians. Lindberg has said that he “stirs his own mixture of possible combinations.” Above all,” he writes, “ the language must be rich.”
Program highlights include: Linea d’ombra, Clarinet Quintet, Duo Concertante, and De Corrente.
