Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Announces David Franke as New Director of Marketing and Communications

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum has named David Franke as the Museum’s Director of Marketing and Communications. Franke previously worked at Communispace, a leading consumer collaboration agency where he consulted with global leaders such as Coca-Cola and Citi to understand consumer audiences and achieve breakthrough innovations in marketing, advertising and product/service development.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Presents The Inscrutable Eye: Watercolors by John Singer Sargent in Isabella Stewart Gardner’s Collection

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum opened today The Inscrutable Eye: Watercolors by John Singer Sargent in Isabella Stewart Gardner’s Collection, on view in the Fenway Gallery from October 31, 2013 through January 20, 2014. It includes eight watercolor paintings by John Singer Sargent that highlight his unique relationship with the Museum’s founder, Isabella Stewart Gardner. The exhibition will run concurrent to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston’s exhibition John Singer Sargent Watercolors.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Presents Last Seen by Sophie Calle

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum announced today the opening of an exhibition titled Last Seen by French artist Sophie Calle on view from October 24, 2013 through March 3, 2014. The exhibition will include Calle’s 1991 Gardner-inspired work on display for the first time at the Gardner, as well as new work created in 2012.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Introduces the Redesigned Monks Garden by Michael Van Valkenburgh

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum unveiled today the Museum’s historic Monks Garden redesigned by Michael Van Valkenburgh. The Garden, which was originally designed by Isabella Stewart Gardner during the installation of the Museum in 1901, has been reinstalled several times since that time. Van Valkenburgh was commissioned in 2012 to redesign the cloistered garden adjacent to the historic building and connected to the exterior gardens which surround the Museum’s new wing designed by Renzo Piano.

The annual exhibition, "Community Creations," opened May 31 and will run through July 1, 2013. The exhibition, located in the Museum’s Education Studio, features Gardner inspired works created by Boston students.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Appoints Anne-Marie Eze New Associate Curator

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum recently appointed Dr. Anne-Marie Eze as the Associate Curator of the Collection. Eze had been working as the Museum’s first Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow since 2010. She began her new position on April 1.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Introduces Tiny Taxonomy

Next month, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum will present an outdoor installation by Rosetta Sarah Elkins in its exterior gardens. The work which will be displayed in the Darlene and Jerry Jordan Garden outside the Museum’s new glass connector and Living Room. On view for four months from May 15 to September 2, 2013, Tiny Taxonomy by landscape architect Rosetta Sarah Elkin, will highlight the small and unassuming plants of the forest floor.
