Mission Safe Program
Mission Hill

The Mission Safe students explored mythology and mythological creatures in the Museum's Collection. At the Gardner, students discovered works of art depicting dragons from European and Asian mythology. The students learned that European dragons often symbolize danger and Asian dragons often symbolize good luck. Inspired by their fascinating stories, the students decided to collaborate and create their own Asian dragon out of clay. The students were divided into three groups with each group being responsible for creating one part of the dragon; the head, middle or tail. The students then put all three sections together to create this fantastic clay dragon sculpute embellished with glass and beads.
