Alternative School at Little House
Dorchester

Interested in learning about the natural environment and objects made from natural materials such as wood, the students from the Alternative School at Little House decided to focus on the decorative arts in the Museum's collection. While examining the Gothic Room chairs, the students discovered that each chair was made not only to be functional but also beautiful. They admired the intricately carved designs of different shapes and patterns inspired by nature. For their own projects, the students decided to design and paint their own individual chairs using recycled wood and other found objects.
